My Projects

This is my most recent short film.  It’s currently a finalist in the Ignite Short Film Festival.  You can vote for it here, as well as watch the other 17 finalists.  They are all under five minutes, and all based on a Bible passage that features the word “hope”.  Well worth a look!  And of course, I’d love you to vote for mine :)

My Music: Reformation!

This was almost more procrastination than study at the time, but it did turn out to be a pretty helpful study tool (even though the question didn’t come up in the exam).  This song summarises Calvin’s Small Treatise on the Lord’s Supper where he plays of Luther and Zwingli’s views.  Thanks to Nicky Chiswell for being ok with me parodying her song.  If you’re ever trying to remember the big points of this treatise, maybe this will help you!  Written in 2009 (in preparation for Church History 2 exam in June).

My Music: Deodorant Moment

The title speaks for itself – sharing those experiences when you really need deodorant.  Written in 2006.

My Music: How Majestic

This is a song I wrote in 2006 after reflecting on the wonderful words we hear in Psalm 8 – the God who created everything, who is majestic in all the earth, chose to care for humanity.  Even more so, he made them to rule his creation.  Yet our rule has been distorted by our sin, so how will God deal with this?  Hebrews 2 then addresses this same question.  God fulfills humanity’s rule in putting everything under Jesus – the true God-man who was like us in every way but without sin.  This blows me away.  I hope this song in some way reflects how majestic our great God is.

Jingles for learning Koine Greek Paradigms

Here are some jingles I put together in my first year at Moore College to help me learn some of the basic paradigms for Koine Greek (what the New Testament was written in).  You can download them by clicking the downward arrow to the right of the waveform.  I hope they help.

The Parting

A short film that Michael Gibson and I made for the Ignite Short Film Festival 2005 in Sydney. It is based on the story of Exodus 14 (the people of Israel being delivered from Egypt through the parted sea), but told from the perspective of a fish. It raises some of the questions brought up in the passage – when you realise who is in control, would you fear and trust him? It can feel a little like a comedy when you first meet the fish, but the narration and music is much more serious. (I like to think of it as a the Matrix meeting Free Willy – “My name is Nemo!”)

Starring James Deeth (Gillford’s voice).
Script by Guangyao Un and Michael Snowdon.

Decisions, Decisions

Another short film I made for advertising Mid Year Conference at UNSW on ‘Guidance’ in 2007.
It was also entered into the Ignite Short Film Festival 2007 in Sydney (Winning Best Actor). It raises the question of our desire for guidance and where we might look for it. It is a kind of awkward comedy with fast paced dialogue.

Starring Marty Clarke and Jonathan Marquet.
Script by Guangyao Un and Michael Snowdon.

Herb and Patch

A short film I made for the Ignite Short Film Festival 2007 in Sydney (Winning Best Visual Effects). It raises some of the main themes of James 1:1-17.

Starring Michael Gibson (Patch) and Michael Snowdon (Herb).
Script by Guangyao Un, Michael Snowdon, and Michael Gibson.

All compositing was done in Final Cut Pro.

Blindness

A short film I made for the Ignite Short Film Festival 2010 in Sydney. It raises a key Biblical question – what does it mean to see?

Starring Daniel Morris.

It is set to an instrumental version of ‘Nothing But the Blood’ by Page CXVI (used with permission).

It was shot on a Canon HG20 using a lens adapter and Canon SLR 50mm lens.
Released under Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives License
